I'm a little confused by your statement. The only two runs on speedrun.com show both to be using the "Zapper".
There are 2 tabs, with 2 runs for each category. The difference from a d-pad record is about 2:40, but that's still a decent gap for a semi-autoscroller.

This ending looks like "you've half-completed half of the game". It's not a "you failed entirely" kinda thing, but not a definitive "you won" either. Even though I really like the glitch, and this is probably the only branch it can be showcased in, half-completing half of the game is not enough. The audience is unsure too.

The DK gameplay looks good, but the boxing part feels like some endless unskippable cutscene.

Unique glitches are a part of gameplay as far as TASing is concerned.

One day once Windows TASing is compatible with the Abe games I have plans to make a PC port Exoddus 100% TAS and any% TAS due to the PC ports having more glitches than the PSX version and faster loading times. Would these ports be allowed on TASVideos as a separate branch to the PSX versions? Taking this video for example, with Mudanchee Vaults in 100%, I could literally do the secret areas that need rescuing and then do a relocation glitch to leave the area. Same thing with Mudomo! https://youtu.be/n3CMXWsGctk?t=14
If gameplay is not identical then yes.

biggest specific changes are in Hydrocity 1 and Hidden Palace
Hidden Palace in "Sonic" is the same as in "Tails" though.

Bitrate is irrelevant for ffv1, since it uses the same lossless compression all over the place. The only difference you will get is from different keyints.

If watched without context, this run is super boring. But if you know the previous two movies and understand what's happening here, it feels like an awesome achievement, because it now doesn't waste all that time on chasing. I'd argue this is mostly just the excitement from technical achievement that bleeds into subjective impression of entertainment. Because if this movie was the first submission of this game, it'd most likely get awful feedback. Voted Meh due to this conflict that I find in myself as well.

That works too, since ffv1 is very good.

Lagarith is windows only. Better idea is supporting camstudio lossless codec, the way lsnes uses it. https://repo.or.cz/lsnes.git/blob/HEAD:/src/video/avi/codec/video/cscd.cpp https://github.com/SourMesen/Mesen/commit/0f5c7fe78b107df9a34163af6855f2bd1fda748a But the future proof solution is ffmpeg + nut piping, because it supports literally everything that ffmpeg supports. https://github.com/clementgallet/libTAS/blob/master/src/library/encoding/AVEncoder.cpp

It's ok to mention all the options that need to be tweaked in the submission text. Or in libTAS movie annotations. http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#UseMovieAnnotationsToProvideInstallationInstructions

I'm interested in exploring this because the rules regarding cheats aren't entirely clear-cut and it is notably mentioned to not be strict. If this run had worse reception, I wouldn't be considering it at all.
The explanation of the rule says the goal is playing on the hardest difficulty, which this movie seems to directly contradict.

Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64700486797598600 Turns out even my previous tests can be called sloppy, because this technique is faster than even hitting every corner. Every time you need to travel in a 90 degree angle, the best strat is moving diagonally by alternating each direction you need to travel, for 4 frames. This makes optimizing this game tedious at a first glance, but actually quite fun, because there's a TON of different turns that need to be solved in various ways.

All things considered, sound borderline, but leans towards acceptable imo.

A password is allowed to unlock a level and that would be published even if the movie is not entertaining. But for characters that require passwords, it has to be entertaining enough for moons. Abusable physics isn't a convincing reason to use PAL if that's the only difference. Example of a good reason: #5749: Chef_Stef's PSX Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back in 36:06.78 http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#NtscVsPalUsaJapanVsEurope

That one looks even less varied than the previous suggestion.

Does this game require/involve any non-trivial routing?

Turning is a HUGE deal in this game. You want to bump every possible corner that's in your way, because it makes you move diagonally for a bit. I saved ~200 frames on the first 10k frames of your movie by bumping corners harder. Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64568652445548068 With regular turns, you want the first frame that puts you on a new grid tile. If your turns match the grid, you get no position changes. If you turn too early, your position gets auto-corrected and pulls you back to fit into the previous tile. If you turn optimally, you will be pulled forward on the new tile, with a bit of diagonal movement. Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64590099561445513 I did a couple more damage boosts than you, because I was mostly testing the turns, but yes, there's a ton of health that's not being used on damage boosting all over the place.

If there's no ending in the game: http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#GamesWithoutClearEnding Overall, after having watched a bit of Slalom gameplay, I don't expect Moons feedback. So doing straight any% is your best bet, and then depending on the rating, probably some Moons-only branch.

If the entire image does not have a unifying concept, I think spreading the text around is better than having it in one place where it fits the conceptual background.
