Да поздно уже. Я в вашей теме спрашивал по боссам, в итоге сам все раздебажил. http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/NES/DuckTales2.html

Не так критично как например интеграция имен из IDA во фсеух.

1. It synced on a European ROM. 2. Handheld's region is not going to be a reason for rejection. 3. I have no freaking clue what is going on in this run. 4. I am going to accept if for Vault. Thoughts?

Adelikat and DwangoAC were going to go there to playback Gradius and SM64 0 stars using NESbot and Droid64. I suggested also playing back the glitched run of SMW by Masterjun. Ideally, Masterjun also succeeds to make a total control SMW playaround. And GhostSonic drives there to talk about snesbot. It is going to need more that 30 minutes. But we are to figure out all we possible can do for that to happen, and what we would want to happen at all. This thread is dedicated to invent and prepare everything related to that event. Console verifying NES and N64 runs looks already rather stable, while doing that for SNES is very unreliable and unexpected. Especially when it comes to finishing SMW in a couple of minutes. Especially when it is related to 4 controllers. And to freaking total control TAS! Link to video Link to video Link to video

Is it possible to figure out the amount of known improvements? Like, how many frames could be saved on a certain segment. Neither me, nor Moth know this game, so it'd be really hard to get the optimization level.

Downloading YouTube encodes would also be acceptable anyway.

Whether it deserves publication or not is not the question, because it is not determined by the audience from some point. Earlier audience could dislike a well-optimized movie so much it was rejected. Now it does not happen. Votes determine the tier. Posts determine the level of optimization, and affect acceptance directly.

I remember that I never liked how this TAS ended (as evidenced by this post of mine) (for the record, I still don't). For me, a movie should end as soon as you lose control of your character. Of course, exceptions can be made, if the end result is something funny (which is not the case in Rockman 4 MI to me, since it just looks out of place, though I was pretty much the only opponent to how it ended).
I, on the contrary, love such endings, because they add more of the unintended touch. Everyone knows how it can be played in normal conditions. Overcoming them requires creative thinking. Some runs that end input really early need quite some planning and manipulation. It is a unique task, presenting more interesting effects.

So all the game's TASers have to do is to agree on another rule, like "fastest way to show the credits".
Which would introduce problems if this rule is forced. Because the current order of things is reflected by the freedom the Moons tier gives to movies. The author can decide what he likes better, and as long as it is liked by the viewers, it is all legit. Be it aiming for faster credits or shorter input. Obsoletions are anyway judged by gameplay improvements. And if gameplay is not improved, it is usually rejected. As happens to movie conversions switching the ROM region.

Haven't read the post yet, but it started from IRC discussion between me and Baxter, spawned by my post. I'll clarify my point. Moons runs can have whatever input file length is beter liked by the author and the viewers. Vault runs can only be time records, so sacrificing real time to bring the game to the completion state sooner (say, by skipping the ending cutscenes) is not justified, since the run overall was not liked and is only valuable as a time record. There happened flaws in unrejecting event where games ineligible for Vault got vaulted, but it was a mistake. Current Vault policy: http://tasvideos.org/JudgeGuidelines.html#TiersAndGoals Examples of delayed final battle victories that are a brilliant showcase of the shorter input file concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEPA3aIvdhQ&t=311 http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=zzHWqci-x48&t=398 And where it didn't work: #3313: adelikat's NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 16:26.23

Arbitrary goal. We mostly don't do that here, it usually is aimed for "shortest input that still BRINGS game completion state", not "bringing game completion state as fast as possible", since quite a lot of current tases can be tweaked this way and become a bit longer with no gameplay improvement. Since this movie does not improve gameplay over the already vaulted run, and it is slower, I vote No on all possible questions about this submission. And no, I was not entertained AT ALL :P

Here is a reminder what each member can do on the site: Wiki: Users - what user has what role. Wiki: Roles - explanation of the roles. Wiki: Privileges - listings of abilities per role, and their explanations. If you find some privilege you can't understand, that is not explained on Wiki, or explained poorly, post in this thread, and we will fix the description to make more sense.

Added a slow encode. Will publish as well in a few days (hoping to see more votes).

We also must showcase the tools we use besides rerecording. Lua scripts look very cool for Sonic or Mario jump prediction, hitbox for an invisible sprite, all kinds of HUDs and stuff. FCEUX has a feature where Hex Editor (Memory Viewer) highlights addresses that are changing dynamically. I also could shoot a bit of symbolic debugging.

Making 512kb encode officially downloadable sounds good. Would we be aiming for reducing its size then, since for now I only apply slight compression to it to save on encoding time, as it is only a stream? Also, I'd expect 512kb be played back as well in most cases as 8bit is played.
