My idea, that runs must be dumped at standard resolution (without inti-aliasing) for SD encodes, seems to be proven correct. There might be exceptions (as Aktan stated), but still.

OK. So it's (the published) YT stream only? Not any other published file? My point is, the publication must tell the viewer all the ways to access commentary.

The author posted a youtube stream with commentary. It's not the published stream, so I called it the second. does any other encode has commentary, or "that second YT stream is the only one"?

Is the second youtube stream the only encode that has commentary?

To me, the new one looks way better.

Finally made you a vested editor. Now you can apply all your suggestions to actual publications! Just as I said, to make sure all is good, post here a comparison before replacing.

Dimon12321: if you are going to pick it someday, I need to make level maps, because... look at the end of Alien 3 thread in the Genesis section. Also, it's not a port, it's a version. It's maps are totally different.

Yeah, good enough (given its goal-set) to not be rejected, but not good enough to be a moon.

I like how fresh and new this run's boss fights were. With some real planning, health management might also look very cool.
Sounds too arbitrary as a condition.

I don't think extra weapons are going to make it any more different from the existing run, and being maximum different is the exact reason we publish additional branches. Also, when equipped with extra weapons, you'd need to kill bosses with it too, which kills the uniqueness completely.

I didn't say "entertainment", but "enjoyment" for a reason. Entertainment is serious business, a trend, we divide the site content into tiers basing on it. Enjoyment is way more global and vague. Guidelines reflect traditional preference of the community. People prefer high difficulty, for obvious reasons. Using it is not a rule (thanks Moth), but using it without a good reason is a bad taste. So it does reduce enjoyment here. And it does not kill it, like it happened with the NG3 run I linked. Notice the difference.
Why do we still prefer something that increases enjoyment, even in Vault? No idea. Maybe because we don't want to absolute relative things, in order to keep making sense.
Do it as soon as you actually win that argument :)

What's wrong with you, dude?
I fail to imagine that this point can be misunderstood. To make sure it's not, I'll explain:
- higher difficulty is used to make the run look more impressive
- cheats are avoided to make the run look more impressive
- looking impressive is an expectation
- looking impressive is not an absolute factor
- looking impressive produces enjoyment
- enjoyment is an absolute factor!
- annoyance is what can overweight it
Summing up, there's too little annoyance and too much enjoyment in this thread to spoil it with picking a single expectation, absoluting it, and rejecting in spite of everyone's impression.
The above is exactly what causes my decision. Argue with it please, don't argue with how valid old decisions are or how comparable certain runs are. Argue with the driving principle.
PS. Archanfel's examples only tell that accepting a lower difficulty to be obsoleted by higher one can be done, is legit and is a common practice for such cases. Still case-by-case, but still legit. Deal with it.

This run seems to aim for in-game time, as the weapons aren't wasted to decrease the countdowns.

cwizkim: no one expressed the interest yet? Well, you definitely should do it, as long as there's something to add, and you have something to say.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure we won't officially start relying on that feature yet, since its so weirdly implemented and still looks unfinished. Some modes don't work, some browsers don't work, etc.
